When I was a child, my favorite anime was “Galaxy Express 999.” It was a story about traveling through space in search of a mechanical body—a masterpiece by Leiji Matsumoto, the same creator behind “Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato)” and “Space Pirate Captain Harlock.”
Years later, I found it on Mercari (a Japanese online marketplace): a 150,000-yen delivery van that was no longer needed by a transport company. The van was covered in rust, but I decided to paint it myself and added some bold red accents.
